Staff Relations Manager

What You Will Do
- Provide expert employee relations (ER) guidance and support to managers and staff in Amgen’s Operations function (on-site at manufacturing sites in Rhode Island, Cambridge, North Carolina and/or Ohio; hybrid schedule with at least 3 days/week on-site).
- Partner with HR, Compliance, Legal, and other HR teams to protect HR policy values, investigate HR policy violations, advise on performance/behavior management, discipline, involuntary terminations, and workplace accommodations.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide legally appropriate ER guidance on performance management, disciplinary action, and workplace conflicts; participate in termination discussions and corrective actions.
- Conduct and document thorough, impartial, and timely HR investigations; determine findings of facts/policy violations; prepare investigation summaries and supporting documentation.
- Partner on reasonable accommodation requests, leaves of absence, and return-to-work.
- Ensure nuanced and compliant ER practices with HR Business Partners and the Staff Relations team.
- Track and update cases in the company’s case management system.
- Assist in process improvements, training, and ER best practices.
- Collaborate to deliver training on HR policies, investigations, and professional workplace behaviors.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree
OR Master’s degree + 2 years Staff Relations experience
OR Bachelor’s degree + 4 years Staff Relations experience
OR Associate’s degree + 8 years Staff Relations experience
OR High school/GED + 10 years Staff Relations experience

Preferred Qualifications:
- On-site ability at listed manufacturing facilities
- 4+ years Employee Relations experience
- Experience advising on performance management, discipline, and involuntary terminations
- Employment laws/ER practices knowledge
- Internal HR investigation experience
- Ability to apply company policy/procedures/regulatory guidelines
- Judgment, discretion, and professionalism handling confidential matters
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, Workday, and ER case management systems
- Flexible hours for manufacturing shifts
