Role Summary
Staff Process Engineer in R&D located in Irvine, CA. Defines engineering principles and practices to generate supply chain engineering project plans, KPIs, and objectives; collaborates with management to drive process engineering decisions and deliverables that improve operational efficiencies and enable new or improved techniques, equipment, processes, and products.
Responsibilities
- Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
- Responsible for cost reduction efforts of all products, materials, and techniques using engineering principles and financial impacts.
- Makes independent engineering decisions and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and plan/coordinate work.
- Uses advanced techniques and extends theories, precepts, and practices of the field and related sciences.
- Requires financial background around manufacturing practices (Cost of Goods theory, overhead rates, labor rates, etc.).
- Supervision and guidance related to overall requirements, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
- Consults with supervisor on unusual problems and developments.
- Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs large engineering projects or multiple complex projects; conducts novel assignments requiring new techniques or procedures.
- Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for projects to be carried out by others.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree and generally 6–8 years of related experience and/or training; or MS degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Required Skills & Experience: Mastery of theoretical and practical fundamentals and experimental engineering techniques; ability to present information to managers, peers, and customers; technical knowledge of equipment and facilities maintenance systems, calibration standards, tooling processes, and documentation control in regulated manufacturing; extensive knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks; strong leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to travel; proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to manage at least one major project; knowledge of project management tools; industry experience in medical device or automotive/aerospace is a plus; ability to complete GMP training; ability to work with minimal supervision; excellent reading/writing/communication in English.
- Preferred Skills & Experience: Knowledge of PLC, HMI, and other process control equipment; knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodology.

Education
- Bachelor of Science; 6–8 years of related experience and/or MS degree or equivalent combination
Additional Requirements
- This position will be located in Irvine, CA and may require up to 10% domestic travel.
- Weekend, overtime and/or off-site work may be required.
- Clean room garments required when applicable.
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment and potential hazards (moving parts, fumes/airborne particles, chemicals, electrical risk).
- Noise levels may be loud.
