Responsibilities:
- Design and develop analytical instruments and accessories.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class products.
- Iterate on proof-of-concept prototypes and deliver commercial design solutions; engage with vendors.
- Ensure feasibility, reliability, and manufacturability of proposed designs.
- Meet product requirements and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Create engineering documentation (3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, protocols/reports).
- Contribute to design reviews and system-level problem solving.
- Support manufacturing transition by developing manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Foster collaboration; provide and receive constructive feedback.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs in Mechanical Engineering + 10+ years (or Masterโs + 8+ years).
- Demonstrated mechanism/product design; assembly/testing of R&D prototypes through commercial products.
- System-level thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience designing durable hardware and consumables.
- Tolerance stack analysis for complex systems.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., rapid prototyping, machining, injection molding, metal injection molding, extrusion, sheet metal).
- Mechanical fundamentals (statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fatigue, FEA, GD&T).
- Expert in SolidWorks and PDM; create models/assemblies/drawings following best practices and ASME standards.
- Design for manufacturability and manufacturing transfer experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
