Sr. Operations Supervisor

Role Summary

The Senior Operations Supervisor leads the day-to-day operations of the plasma donor center, overseeing donor floor activities, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards. This frontline leader serves as a shift resource, drives operational priorities, and supports the Center Manager in achieving performance, donor satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Center Manager in their absence and be capable of performing all plasma center tasks, including donor flow supervision.
• Provide shift leadership for donor operations, including staffing, task assignments, breaks, and coaching of team members.
• Create employee schedules to accommodate donor cycles.
• Ensure adequate inventory of goods and supplies; compile and submit orders to vendors.
• Keep the Center Manager informed of irregularities and implement corrective action plans.
• Execute daily operational plans to meet targets for donor throughput, quality, and productivity.
• Partner with the Center Manager and Quality team to identify and resolve deviations in real time.
• Monitor donor flow and address delays or service issues to deliver an exceptional donor experience.
• Maintain familiarity with applicable regulations (FDA SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP) and internal procedures.
• Supervise donor selection, plasma collection, and manufacturing records to maintain production standards.
• Attend required training sessions and meetings; ensure accurate documentation of records.
• Ensure the facility and equipment are maintained in good condition.
• Submit timely and accurate reports as required by the Center Manager.
• Assist in managing center donor funds as directed by the Center Manager.
• Participate in onboarding, training, and cross-training of staff to support center agility and performance.
• Maintain communication with other service areas to ensure documentation and quality.
• Lead by example in promoting safety, teamwork, and accountability; report unsafe situations.
• May be trained to repair plasma center equipment.
• Assist the Center Manager with tasks necessary to pursue company objectives.

Qualifications

• Experience: Typically requires 6 years of related experience with phlebotomy, donor processing, and plasma processing duties, with demonstrated proficiency to handle difficult situations.
• Equivalency: Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of education and experience may be considered in place of stated requirements.
• Knowledge | Skills | Abilities: Exceptional customer service skills; proficient in speaking and writing English, with legible handwriting; bilingual abilities where applicable; ability to understand, explain, and follow SOPs and protocols; ability to work flexible scheduling; ability to perform in a highly regulated, operations-intensive medical environment prioritizing donor and employee safety and product quality.

Education

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certified as a Phlebotomist, Donor Center Technician, Plasma Processor, and Designated Trainer.
• CPR Certification.

Additional Requirements

• Occupational Demands: Work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids and potential exposure to infectious organisms; exposure to electrical equipment; exposure to extreme cold in plasma freezers; PPE required; standing for up to 4–6 hours per day and sitting for 1–2 hours per day; bending and twisting of the neck; frequent hand and finger movements; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; vision and hearing requirements; ability to communicate and follow instructions; ability to work independently and adapt to changing demands.
