Role Summary

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Lung Oncology is a field-based scientific and clinical expert responsible for providing fair, balanced, objective scientific information and education to healthcare professionals and internal partners. This role covers the New England Territory (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont) and focuses on scientific engagement, research support for company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies, and staying current with the treatment landscape in oncology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a strategic and comprehensive territory plan and build strong relationships with community and academic opinion leaders/KOLs in the territory.
  • Engage in high-level scientific and research discussions with KOLs and OLs to serve as a resource and understand perspectives on the current treatment landscape.
  • Identify provider educational needs and address those with tailored responses.
  • Deliver relevant scientific data tailored to HCP needs through clear and effective dialog/presentation.
  • Consistently execute the Medical Affairs strategy and MSL priorities.
  • Respond to unsolicited research/clinical inquiries from external stakeholders promptly.
  • Collect and submit high-quality actionable insights aligned with current strategic priorities.
  • Utilize insights and MSL tools to develop a strategic approach for customer engagements within the territory.
  • Provide research support for company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including MSL field partners, R&D, US and Global Medical Affairs teams, clinical operations, sales, and marketing teams.
  • Demonstrate strong scientific acumen through self-reading, journal clubs, educational seminars, congress attendance, and scientific discussion with peers.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, increasing engagement, productivity and innovation that reflects diverse communities.
  • Develop understanding of regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines; corporate policies on business conduct; Medical Affairs SOPs and guidelines.
  • In collaboration with the direct manager, develop and implement a performance and development plan and lead leadership projects.
  • Perform all administrative requirements timely, accurately, and compliantly (e.g., expense reports, documentation of activities).

Qualifications

  • Required: A Doctorate level degree or equivalent experience (PharmD, PhD, MD, Advanced Practice Providers).
  • Required: Post-graduate experience for doctoral-level candidates, with preference for clinical experience.
  • Required: 2+ years of MSL experience and/or 2+ years relevant work experience (clinical, research, fellowship, or pharmaceutical).
  • Required: Scientific acumen with in-depth scientific and/or therapeutic knowledge.
  • Required: Research and/or healthcare system knowledge.
  • Required: Ability to support a specific territory with up to 70% travel. Must hold a valid US Driverโ€™s License.
  • Preferred: Residency/fellowship.
  • Preferred: Board certification for clinical degrees.
  • Preferred: Experience in Oncology therapeutics.

Education

  • Doctorate level degree or equivalent (PharmD, PhD, MD, Advanced Practice Providers).

Additional Requirements

  • Travel: Up to 70% travel within the territory; valid US Driverโ€™s License required.
