Role Summary

Senior Marketing Manager, Software, OTTAVA — Role in Johnson & Johnson’s Robotics & Digital Solutions organization. Location: Santa Clara, California. The role leads upstream marketing for OTTAVA software and defines the software roadmap to enable the OTTAVA surgical robotics experience. You will contribute to the vision and delivery of the OTTAVA Robotic Surgical System, including software feature definition, go-to-market strategy, and collaboration with R&D and cross-functional partners to achieve development milestones and drive key decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as upstream marketing lead for OTTAVA product software, working closely with cross-functional team in advancing projects through development stage-gates and delivering on critical business objectives.
  • Lead and refine the OTTAVA software roadmap and release strategy.
  • Continuous gathering of customer insights and competitive intelligence for robotic systems and advanced software capabilities including AI/ML.
  • Ensure product features exceed customer expectations and solidify our value proposition.
  • Collaborate across R&D, Regulatory, and other departments to foster continuous innovation.
  • Develop customer-facing assets to support OTTAVA commercialization activities in close collaboration with marketing and commercial partners as well as external agencies.

Qualifications

  • Required: 8+ years of relevant and progressive business experience.
  • Required: Experience with software-enabled products in a highly regulated environment.
  • Required: Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional partners and across organizational boundaries. Ability to influence and drive to decisions with leadership stakeholders.
  • Required: Demonstrated previous experience of successful product development and launch of a software-enabled device.
  • Required: Expertise in conducting market research, competitive analysis, gathering user feedback, and articulating reasoning behind product decisions from a customer perspective.
  • Required: Self-starter with excellent communication skills and a strong analytical mindset; ability to drive data-driven decisions that align with business goals and strategy.
  • Required: Passion for conceiving, creating, and designing meaningful, innovative products.
  • Preferred: Experience with surgical robotics and/or class II - III surgical devices.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of key areas relevant to software and digital, e.g., edge computing, computer vision, AI/ML.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering or equivalent. MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • This role will be based out of Santa Clara, CA and may require up to 15% travel (International and Domestic).
