Role Summary

Senior Manager, US Medical Affairs, Virology Scientific Collaboration. Based in Foster City, CA or Parsippany, NJ, you will serve as a primary contact for US Medical Affairs engagement with external societies and medical-scientific organizations, partnering across USMA Virology with a focus on HIV, HIV prevention, and liver disease. Reports to the USMA Virology Scientific Collaboration, Sr Director.

Responsibilities

  • Leads engagements with external societies and scientific/medical organizations.
  • Develops engagement strategies and key initiatives with scientific educational organizations.
  • Works cross-functionally within US Affiliate teams (USMA, Commercial, Legal and Medical Governance, Public Affairs and Government Affairs) on initiatives related to external collaborations, projects, and working groups.
  • Develops novel medical educational tools and medical symposia for conferences based on virology therapeutic area medical strategy.
  • Participates in external scientific engagements in partnership with Gilead Medical Affairs colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Required: MD, PhD, PharmD, NP or PA or other advanced health care degree and 2 years of relevant work experience in HIV, viral hepatitis, or related clinical field.
  • Preferred: 2+ years industry experience.
  • Preferred: Ability to cultivate, strengthen, and strategically manage high‑impact relationships with external scientific and medical organizations—including professional societies, academic partners, and community leaders.
  • Preferred: Proven capability to shape Medical Affairs strategy by integrating scientific insights, organizational priorities, and external landscape trends, and to translate strategic direction into clear, actionable, and measurable implementation plans.
  • Preferred: Advanced strategic and organizational skills with a track record of leading complex projects—ensuring alignment, resource coordination, and delivery of high‑quality outputs.
  • Preferred: Strong ability to anticipate emerging needs, proactively manage competing priorities, and allocate resources across concurrent projects by applying sound judgment, risk assessment, and forward‑thinking planning.
  • Preferred: Strong cross‑functional leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to drive alignment and foster a culture of shared accountability. Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and consistently dependable in meeting ambitious timelines in a rapid, dynamic environment.
