Sr Manager Project Engineering (Jacksonville, Florida)
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate definition of project requirements with the business partner.
- Participate in Strategic and Tactical Project Execution Planning (PEP) sessions.
- Prepare RFPs for Architect/Engineer (A/E) services; lead A/E interviews/selection and onboarding.
- Lead and coordinate development of Feasibility and Concept Package deliverables.
- Prepare and support negotiation of standard J&J contracts with A/E firms.
- Lead Basis of Design (BOD) and Construction Document phases across architecture, mechanical, electrical, process, automation, sustainability, etc.
- Collaborate with equipment/system suppliers and evolve J&J standard design platforms.
- Track design deliverables; lead A/E performance (cost/schedule/quality) and corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with EHS, project controls, and construction during design.
- Follow J&J IDEA Project Delivery Process and use Flawless Project Execution (FPX).
- Apply Design to Value and Constructability Reviews.
- Coordinate key design reviews with SMEs and ensure standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements are incorporated.
- Review A/E progress; identify action plans; implement Earned Value tracking on larger projects.
- Resolve design conflicts during construction/commissioning; support final close-out and Lessons Learned.
- Develop yearly regional goals; complete tactical engineering plans/programs; build networks/contacts.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelorβs/equivalent in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical Engineering or closely related technical degree (required). Masterβs preferred.
- Experience/Skills (Required): 8β10 years on large capital facility projects; project/design management proficiency; ability to develop design-firm performance metrics and continuous improvement plans; cross-functional collaboration; expertise delivering complex facility designs on schedule and budget.
- Preferred: Lead role experience at an A/E firm; Professional Engineering or Architectural License; FPX & J&J IDEA training.
- Other: Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; up to 25% travel may be required.
