Senior Manager, Engineering
Responsibilities
- Lead Facilities & Engineering operations supporting Amgen Ohio (AOH), ensuring safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient operation of site utility, facility, and infrastructure systems.
- Lead a team responsible for utility systems, sustainability initiatives, asset lifecycle management, and engineering support; partner with Reliability Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, and Capital Projects.
- Provide leadership/coaching for plant utilities, HVAC, building automation systems, electrical distribution, refrigeration, and facility infrastructure.
- Improve asset reliability and operational performance via engineering strategies; drive condition-based monitoring, predictive maintenance, and risk reduction.
- Lead operational excellence initiatives (Lean/continuous improvement), use performance metrics, and lead root-cause investigations/corrective actions.
- Ensure cGMP, regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance; maintain inspection readiness and support audits/inspections.
- Oversee capital projects for upgrades/expansions/replacements/modernization; support startup, commissioning, qualification, and integration.
- Lead sustainability initiatives; support utility forecasting, budgets, capital planning, and business continuity planning.
- Recruit/develop/retain talent; set goals and performance expectations; drive safety, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate + 2 years Engineering OR Master’s + 6 years OR Bachelor’s + 8 years OR Associate’s + 10 years OR HS/GED + 12 years Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years directly managing people and/or leading teams/projects/programs/resource allocation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical Engineering or related.
- 8+ years facilities/utilities/engineering/reliability.
- 5+ years leadership managing engineering/technical teams.
- Pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of plant/clean utilities, HVAC, facility infrastructure, building management systems.
- GMP manufacturing and regulatory inspection experience.
- Reliability engineering/asset management/predictive maintenance; CMMS/asset management tools.
- Continuous improvement, operational excellence, and sustainability leadership; strong project management/problem-solving; communication/stakeholder management; ability to manage multiple priorities and provide occasional off-hours support.
