Role Summary

Sr. Manager, Engineering and Maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Maintenance, Automation & Instrumentation Engineering team, including contract support resources and ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety and compliance standards.
  • Oversee all plant maintenance and reliability engineering activities, including the redesign, repair, and lifecycle asset management of qualified production equipment.
  • Ensure all assets are maintained and qualified according to established schedules and status is communicated clearly across the site.
  • Set objectives for multiple projects, leveraging managerial and technical skills to guide the plant maintenance, automation and instrumentation teams effectively.
  • Develop and implement strategies for plant maintenance, automation and instrumentation programs.
  • Provide leadership in developing tactical plans and monitor their execution, ensuring alignment with the Division's strategy.
  • Assess talent needs, identify and develop a diverse talent pipeline, and hold managers accountable for developing their teams.
  • Create and implement plant maintenance programs for all production assets, establish guidelines and specifications for the Automation Engineering Program.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant maintenance, automation and instrumentation performance and reliability across the site.
  • Provide input to capital project designs, equipment selection and specifications.
  • Craft project approaches that minimize costs while meeting equipment and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections and ensure all plant maintenance, automation and instrumentation equipment and systems are maintained and qualified as per schedules.
  • Support the development of the Site Master Plan, ensuring effective use of assets and capital investment.
  • Develop and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Maintenance, Automation & Instrumentation Engineering Department to include trending, equipment and system performance, maintenance activities, and root cause assessments and improvements.
  • Participate in meetings and presentations with regulatory agencies when necessary to ensure adherence to GMP requirements.
  • Drive a safety culture and lead the Equipment & Automation Roadmap and Site Master Plan to support aging assets and future capabilities to include ownership oof the long-term site Technology Roadmap and Industry 4.0 Transformation.
  • Support additional activities as directed by the Director of Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years’ relevant experience, OR Master’s Degree with 5+ years’ relevant experience, OR Doctorate Degree with 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in maintenance reliability principles, including Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) with emphasis on operator care.
  • Previous Leadership experience leading a maintenance team or organization with a safety minded culture.
  • Training or certification in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Equipment Life Cycle Costing, and Root Cause Failure Analysis using DMAIC principles.
  • Ability to retrieve, calculate, and report Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) data.
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred, with consideration given to related industries such as food and beverage, health care, or chemical.
  • Knowledge or experience working in a GMP environment in maintenance and reliability engineering.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and ongoing work activities of moderate complexity.
  • Ability to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Physical/Mental Requirements

Expected to spend time between office environment and significant time in shop floor operation, and to be trained in the appropriate gowning (minimum Grade D).

Non-standard Work Schedule, Travel Or Environment Requirements

Job is in support of a 24-hour/7-day operation and weekend/overnight support will be needed as required.
