Role Summary
At Takeda’s Los Angeles Site, we are committed to producing high-quality plasma-derived therapies that improve and sustain lives. To support this mission, we continuously invest in facility and process improvements through our Capital Engineering team. As a Sr. Manager, Capital Engineering, you will oversee the planning, implementation, and execution of capital projects — from facility and equipment upgrades to large-scale strategic capacity expansions. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. Although this is an individual contributor role, it requires strong leadership, strategic influence, and cross-functional collaboration to drive success across a complex manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle of capital projects, including concept, design, construction, commissioning, and validation phases.
- Manage multiple projects, typically >$1M USD, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, and cost parameters.
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
- Apply robust risk management and mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes.
- Oversee contractor and supplier selection, negotiation, and performance management.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, validation, EHS, and finance teams to align project objectives with site priorities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and project team members.
- Identify and implement process improvements and innovation in capital project execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related field); advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience managing capital projects in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale engineering projects and manage cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of GMP, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent project management, budgeting, and risk assessment skills.
- Effective communicator with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred.
