Patient Advocacy
The Senior Field Clinical Coordinator (Sr-FCC) uses BioMarin approved educational materials to educate patients on the safe and appropriate use of BioMarin marketed therapies. Sr-FCCs support Palynziq product initiation and ongoing therapy by collaborating with assigned clinics and the BioMarin account team. Sr-FCCs do not provide medical advice. Sr-FCCs are based out of their homes and support 50–60 PKU patients from participating clinics in a designated region.
Responsibilities:
- Work with assigned clinics, BioMarin field sales, and BioMarin RareConnections (RC) personnel to ensure timely therapy initiation and adherence-related activities.
- Coordinate cases from referral to specialty pharmacy shipment to product start.
- Conduct patient education for new starts: safety, efficacy, dosing, administration, storage, disease awareness, injection training, and clinic protocols.
- Provide in-person support for self-administration of FDA-approved BioMarin therapies as needed.
- Use motivational interviewing to empower patients; provide reminders for medication, labs, and appointments.
- Provide ongoing patient education on disease and administration technique.
- Participate in direct-to-patient educational events (typically 3–4x/year on weekends and during the week).
- Provide peer leadership and contribute to cross-functional best practices; serve as PKU subject matter expert.
Competencies/Skills:
- Interpersonal communication with motivational interviewing; strong presentation skills.
- Team-oriented, action-oriented, tenacious, adaptable; strong business acumen.
- Expert navigation of systems and ability to align resources to action plans.
- Travel up to 65%.
Experience & Education (Qualifications):
- 2+ years pharmaceutical experience as a patient educator.
- 4+ years direct patient care experience in rare disease.
- Allied health education; Bachelor’s in Allied Health preferred or equivalent experience.
Required:
- Successful background check.
- Valid driver’s license and driving record.
- Ideally reside in Los Angeles, Orange County, or Riverside.
