Senior Field Clinical Coordinator (Sr-FCC)
In this role, the Sr-FCC:
- Works with assigned clinics, BioMarin field sales, and BioMarin RareConnections to support timely therapy initiation and adherence activities for enrolled patients.
- Collaborates in an account team (Account Manager, Case Manager, Clinical Coordinator) to move cases from referral to specialty pharmacy shipment to product start.
- Conducts patient-level education for new starts, including product info (safety, efficacy, dosing, administration, storage), disease awareness, injection training, and clinic-specific protocols.
- Provides in-person support for self-administration of FDA-approved BioMarin therapies as needed.
- Uses motivational interviewing to help patients advocate for their health needs; provides medication, labs, and appointment reminders.
- Conducts ongoing education on disease and administration technique to support safe, appropriate therapy use.
- Participates in direct-to-patient education events (typically 3–4x/year, weekends).
Responsibilities/Leadership:
- Influences beyond geography; contributes to cross-functional teams.
- Generates/communicates best practices; identifies obstacles/trends and creates widely adopted solutions.
- Acts as a subject matter expert in PKU/clinical coordination; contributes to regional/national training and education initiatives.
Competencies/Skills:
- Interpersonal communication with motivational interviewing; positive patient outcomes.
- Strong presentation skills to small/large groups.
- Team player aligned with BioMarin Commercial values; action-oriented and tenacious.
- Adaptable; navigates systems; aligns resources to action plans.
- Requires travel up to 65% of the work week.
Experience & Education:
- 2+ years pharmaceutical patient educator experience.
- 4+ years direct patient care experience in rare disease.
- Allied health education; Bachelor’s in Allied Health preferred.
Required:
- Successful background check.
- Valid driver’s license and driving record.
Preferred location: Los Angeles, Orange County, or Riverside.
