Position Brand Description
The Central Maintenance Shop provides sheet metal, plastic, welding, design, fabrication, and maintenance support for M&Q customers (development research, manufacturing, utilities, and administrative for all buildings).
Responsibilities / Key Objectives
- Weld and repair pressure vessels to maintain tank integrity to meet ASME codes (GMAW, SMAW, GTAW manual/automatic).
- Weld and repair pipe and fittings to maintain validation/integrity of water, steam, and air systems (MIG, TIG, Stick, Oxygen/Acetylene); support coil replacement for heating/cooling systems.
- Weld and repair production/research equipment and components (non-pressurized vessels and pots) requiring GMP/GLP validation.
- Provide welding support for sheet metal fabrication and machining; assist other crafts/shops and fabricate boxes, frames, cages, racks, and panels.
- Perform electro-polishing and mechanical polishing of stainless steel piping, fittings, tubing, and tanks.
- Support Root Cause Analysis, Pro-Active Asset Management (PAM), and Conduct of Maintenance.
- Ensure a safe working environment and help improve safety culture.
- Inspect components for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, uniformity, and quality.
- Make decisions under pressure and deliver scheduled assignments at best value; work creatively with limited guidance.
Additional Preferences
- Use data systems (Maximo, Workday, LillyNow) for work order time entry/closing notes and accessing safety manuals, MSDS, training, time/absence, and job/resume info.
- Participate in performance management and development planning.
- Maintain and help others achieve welding certifications.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of welding trade experience.
Education
- High school graduate or GED.
Other Information / Shift
- Full-time, day shift (Mon–Fri); some overtime; respond to off-hour emergencies.
