Senior Director, Business Insights & Analytics – Medical Affairs Product Delivery

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Medical Affairs Analytics Product strategy aligned with BI&A and Agentic AI goals
- Direct the Medical Affairs analytics product portfolio with end-to-end accountability for insights that accelerate delivery of medical solutions and close clinical care gaps
- Champion Agentic AI transformation as a strategic differentiator
- Develop multi-year product roadmaps balancing AI innovation with regulatory compliance, scientific rigor, and business value
- Participate in BI&A strategy development and future-state visioning
- Partner with Medical Affairs leadership to identify high-impact opportunities for AI-driven insights
- Translate complex AI capabilities into compelling value propositions
- Provide strategic leadership to build an aligned, AI-ready data foundation (Data Engineering, Data Science, Privacy, BU Integration, etc.)
- Build AI-ready data infrastructure (quality, lineage, policy as code, governance, real-time accessibility) across RWE, clinical trials, publications, HCP engagement, and medical operations
- Develop semantic layers to unify business logic and enable scalable self-service analytics globally
- Architect and deploy AI agents to autonomously generate insights, answer medical queries, accelerate evidence synthesis, and enhance decision speed
- Recommend and implement policy-as-code frameworks to automate governance, support regulatory compliance, and embed ethical AI
- Integrate Agentic AI into performance dashboards to reduce time from data to decision
- Create fast, efficient intelligence pipelines for “launch excellence”
- Deliver scalable, AI-enabled products grounded in analytics evidence
- Improve analytical tools/capabilities to support investment decisions and optimize resource allocation
- Drive adoption and transformation to achieve capacity savings (automating routine reporting)
- Enable HCP identification/segmentation and improve Medical Education to drive patient outcomes
- Support scaling innovation readiness data/analytics/measurement for breakthrough therapies
- Use agile delivery methods (Jira, SAFe) and modern product management practices (OKRs, sprint planning, retrospectives)
- Develop and track success metrics (business outcomes, decision influence, tool adoption, collaborator impact)
- Build trusted advisor relationships with Medical Affairs leadership; translate scientific questions into AI-powered analytics
- Communicate AI concepts (autonomous agents, semantic modeling, policy-as-code) to medical/scientific/executive audiences
- Champion change management with behavioral adoption and establish feedback loops with partners
- Lead recruiting, training, coaching, retention, and ongoing upskilling (LLMs, agent frameworks, MLOps, medical domain, agile)
- Provide leadership, technical guidance, developmental support, and career planning

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree + 6+ years relevant analytical experience OR advanced degree + 3+ years relevant experience
- Quantitative background in engineering, statistics, mathematics, sciences, finance, computer science, business analytics, economics, technology, or related field
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. full-time; Lilly does not provide/sponsor work authorization or visas (including F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, L-1)

Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills with business discernment; strategic thinking in ambiguous environments
- Statistical programming (R, SAS, Python, MATLAB) and predictive models (plus)
- Data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate analytics concepts and influence change
- Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal influencing; attention to detail
- Ability to work across teams and build culture
- MBA or advanced degree
- Track record leading multi-functional teams and delivering complex projects
- Experience with retail/specialty markets, global pharmaceutical business, and pharmaceutical data/landscape complexities
- Broad awareness of AI/ML/NLP/predictive analytics
- Experience managing/scaling enterprise technical teams (preferably international or multi-business unit)
- Experience deploying production AI/ML systems that measurably accelerate outcomes
- Experience with semantic modeling, knowledge graphs, ontology development, or master data management in healthcare
- Strong understanding of Agentic AI architectures, large language model applications, and autonomous system design

- Travel: 5–20% depending on business need
- Anticipated pay range: $169,500–$248,600; eligible for company bonus (depending on company/individual performance)
