Main Purpose and Objectives of Position
The Senior Director HSE is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE programs and systems at the Lilly manufacturing site, overseeing manufacturing, labs, utilities, waste, emergency response, and administrative areas to ensure compliance with global and regulatory standards.

This role leads the site HSE team, supports employee development, and serves as the primary liaison with corporate HSE to ensure alignment and readiness for regulatory inspections. During project delivery and startup phase (2029–2030), the focus is building HSE systems, processes, and culture to support GMP operations and a safe, compliant launch.

Key Responsibilities
Pre-Startup and Startup Phase:
- Lead operational readiness and startup collaboratively and inclusively
- Build an HSE organization to support safe, compliant, efficient operations
- Define HSE priorities/roadmap; implement systems/processes using internal expertise and external best practices
- Establish and lead the site HSE Lead Team; embed safety/environmental focus
- Guide design, startup planning, and contractor safety with Global Facilities Delivery
- Develop and scale HSE capabilities for full GMP manufacturing, including environmental and PSM
- Build technical partnerships with corporate/global teams

Post Startup:
- Own the HSE Management System to ensure compliance with regulations and Lilly Global standards
- Define/manage HSE priorities, roadmap, initiatives, metrics, and the HSE Plan
- Ensure Title V reporting and recordkeeping compliance
- Benchmark best practices across Lilly and externally
- Develop future HSE leadership (site and global)
- Escalate critical HSE issues as needed

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline
- 5+ years leading HSE teams/programs (preferably PSM and API manufacturing)

Additional Preferences
- Proven manufacturing HSE leadership, including PSM
- Environmental compliance experience, including Title V reporting/recordkeeping
- Ability to engage regulatory agencies on EHS matters
- Strong relationship-building with site leadership
- Success building high-performing teams and fostering safety culture
