Description:
This position reports directly to the Sr. Director of HSE – GFD and provides oversight to the contractor safety program across all major capital projects under the GFD organization. Partners with Project Managers to ensure the Contractor Safety Playbook is fully implemented. Works with GHSE and Site HSE Teams to ensure a best-in-class safety culture and contractor safety management.
Responsibilities:
- Provide contractor safety oversight to major capital projects with contractors, project managers, and site HSE leaders.
- Ensure the Contractor Safety Playbook is fully implemented in every major capital project.
- Monitor contractor safety performance to identify trends and actions to address risks.
- Periodically audit major capital projects (with GHSE and/or external partners) to confirm compliance.
- Assess on-the-ground compliance with contractor safety programs.
- Support evaluation of contractors and provide feedback on safety performance.
- Ensure contractor safety induction programs are in place for each major capital project.
- Escalate safety issues and ensure learning and corrective actions are communicated across the portfolio.
- Determine when additional oversight is needed based on trends and develop a higher-level oversight plan with GHSE and Site HSE Teams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (significant relevant experience may be considered with a non-technical degree).
- At least 10 years’ experience in manufacturing, large capital projects, or HSE organizations.
- Strong understanding of safety programs and compliance mindset.
- Ability to communicate across all levels.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to travel (>40% of time).
