Senior Director, Finance and Commercial (Enterprise Solutions & Business Partnering) — Role Overview
The Senior Director, Finance & Commercial leads Gilead’s Finance and Commercial ERP solution delivery. Owns end-to-end ownership of Finance and Commercial business process domains (Record-to-Report, Source-to-Settle, Order-to-Cash, and Commercial Operations) to ensure ERP capabilities reliably support global business operations and strategic transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Finance ERP Solutions & Business Enablement
- Own ERP delivery across Record-to-Report (R2R), Source-to-Settle (S2S), and related sub-processes.
- Partner with Finance Business Tower Leads; balance global standardization with business-specific requirements in a regulated, GxP-aware environment.
- Accountable for Finance ERP platform performance, roadmap delivery, and business adoption.
- Lead SAP Finance module design/delivery (FI/CO, AP, AR, GL, Asset Accounting, Cost Center Accounting) and integration touchpoints.
- Oversee post-merger integration ERP activities for Finance (legal entities, chart of accounts).
- Oversee non-SAP financial applications (FCCS, Breakaway, etc.).
Commercial ERP Solutions & Business Enablement
- Own ERP delivery for Order-to-Cash (O2C), Trade & Channel Management, and Gross-to-Net (GTN).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design scalable, compliant ERP solutions aligned to the commercial model.
- Ensure SAP SD/MM and related modules support global operations, pricing, and revenue recognition.
- Drive adoption of standardized processes across regions; manage deviations via governance.
- Partner with Finance for end-to-end alignment between revenue processes and financial reporting.
ERP Finance & Commercial Strategy & Roadmap
- Define/maintain the Finance & Commercial ERP solution roadmap aligned to business priorities, transformation, and enterprise architecture.
- Set vision for process-centric, standardized, scalable ERP capabilities.
- Evaluate emerging SAP capabilities relevant to Finance/Commercial.
- Sequence delivery to minimize disruption while accelerating value; communicate progress/tradeoffs.
Program Delivery & Governance
- Sponsor Finance/Commercial workstreams within ERP programs/releases.
- Partner with PMO on governance, prioritization, risk management, and value realization.
- Resolve cross-tower/portfolio tradeoffs.
- Ensure deliverables meet GxP, SOX, and audit readiness requirements.
- Align delivery timelines with business readiness, OCM, and cutover plans.
Enterprise Partnership & Influence
- Build trusted partnerships across global Finance/Commercial and IT leadership.
- Communicate complex decisions to executives.
- Represent ES&BP in steering committees and executive briefings.
Talent, Operating Model & Continuous Improvement
- Develop/lead a high-performing team of ERP Finance/Commercial solution managers, architects, and analysts.
- Shape operating model (sourcing, location mix, vendor partnerships).
- Foster continuous improvement and delivery excellence.
- Drive standardization, velocity, and cost efficiency.
Key Skills & Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree with 14+ years in ERP/enterprise platforms or large-scale transformation leadership; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience leading ERP Finance delivery (R2R, S2S, O2C).
- Track record delivering complex, multi-year ERP programs in regulated environments (GxP, SOX, FDA 21 CFR Part 11).
- Strong knowledge of SAP-enabled enterprise architectures; SAP S/4HANA Finance/Commercial modules and operating models.
- Experience leading/influencing global matrixed teams.
- Executive presence; clear communication of ERP/process decisions.
- Ability to balance global standardization with business-specific needs.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $243,100.00 - $314,600.00. Eligible for discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance).
