Responsibilities:
- Collaborate to collect business requirements, define analytics outcomes, and design data models
- Design, develop, and extend dbt and/or other ELT code to extend the Enterprise Dimensional Model
- Architect, optimize, and maintain Snowflake data warehouse structures (performance tuning, clustering, cost optimization, workload management)
- Own stakeholder relationships and delivery outcomes
- Contribute to planning and prioritization
- Break down and architect complex data engineering problems to deliver insights meeting business needs
- Own solutions end-to-end (from ingestion to data products), including conceptual iteration and production support
- Ensure sustained performance of data pipelines and remediate as required
- Own Enterprise Data & Analytics platform pipelines (performance, uptime, reduced technical debt, scalability, extensibility) and establish KPIs
- Own source code management, technical/end-user documentation, and release planning; leverage Data Ops/DevOps/CI/CD for reliable, tested, automated functionality
- Foster sharing, reuse, design-for-scale/stability, and operational efficiency
- Proactively identify and manage risks to the data engineering platform
- Evaluate, implement, and deploy emerging data engineering tools/processes to improve productivity and results
- Partner with Data Management, InfoSec, and Legal & Compliance to implement regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR) and define data lifecycle
- Hybrid work: Newport Beach office; Mon/Fri remote, TueโThu onsite
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree (or equivalent experience)
- 6+ years as a senior data engineer in enterprise data solutions
- 10+ years in databases, data warehouses, and ETL/ELT pipelines
- 4+ years in Snowflake production with strong SQL
- 2+ years with extraction/transformation/orchestration tools (e.g., Fivetran, dbt, Airflow)
- Experience building pipelines using Python and orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow)
- Deep understanding of data analysis, data modeling for visualization, and reporting
- Data Ops experience and git or Azure DevOps; CI/CD pipelines
- Experience in one or more domains: healthcare, marketing, finance, sales, product, customer success, or engineering
- Ability to perform root cause analysis for production issues
- Write clean, documented code; perform code reviews
- Strong planning/organization attention to detail and ability to see the big picture
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Snowflake certification
- Experience implementing data governance frameworks in Snowflake
- Experience with real-time or near real-time data architectures
