Role Summary
Sr. Advisor Drug Delivery & Injection Physiology at Lilly. The role focuses on studying physiological barriers across various routes of administration to develop patient-centric drug delivery solutions, with emphasis on injection device platforms and novel delivery devices to improve patient care. The group serves as a center of excellence in injection physiology, drug delivery technologies, nanomedicine, and connected devices.
Responsibilities
- Ownership in advancing multiple research projects to advance our injection physiology understanding while collaborating with diverse teams and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and champion scientific or technical breakthrough approaches to address complex problems.
- Plan and implement experiments to support product development across novel drug delivery platforms and technologies.
- Understand delivery and device strategy; identify opportunities and obtain support for organizational strategy or scientific direction linked to the business strategy.
- Identify scientific challenges, drive assessment of options, and proactively implement value-added solutions.
- Identify and evaluate potential areas for improvement of patient experience within our therapeutic areas.
- Maintain a deep understanding of injection physiology, device-enabled delivery and theoretical knowledge of drug delivery.
- Engage with the external scientific community to enhance internal research efforts and identify collaboration opportunities.
- Effectively represent area of expertise on multi-disciplinary teams in both internal and external venues.
- Demonstrate technical depth in primary area of expertise, as recognized across function or component. Sought after for coaching and consultation.
- Develop, mentor, and lead junior team members to foster growth and development.
Qualifications
- PhD in Pharmaceutical sciences, Chemistry/Chemistry/Materials Science/ Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial or post-doctoral experience; or MS with 10 years of relevant experience; or BS with 15 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to run in vivo studies and measure various physiology parameters such as back pressure, sub cut plume geometry, and biodistributions.
- Demonstrated technical mastery and scientific leadership in advanced drug delivery and drug transport through publications.
- Knowledge of drug delivery devices and combination products is preferred.
- In Vivo animal research experience is preferred.
- Self-motivated, dedicated and adaptable to evolving priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and multidisciplinary matrixed team environment.
- Ability to travel about 10% of the time.
