Role Summary
This role supports BioMarin’s Skeletal Dysplasia commercial efforts in the Northwest. The Account Manager will drive sales, educate on disease states and products, and coordinate cross-functional activities to support patient starts in pediatric endocrinology, orthopedics, and genetics settings. The position requires field-based strategic selling, relationship-building with key stakeholders, and the ability to navigate a startup-like commercial environment.
Responsibilities
- Achieving area sales objectives, market penetration, new patient starts, and revenue targets on a quarterly and annual basis
- Driving demand through clinical selling and education to referring and treating healthcare providers focusing on skeletal conditions, including cold calling on key accounts as needed
- Implementing an effective business plan to guide strategy, tactics and track progress
- Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with key stakeholders in Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Orthopedics, Genetics, and referring physicians
- Participating in disease awareness efforts and burden/natural history discussions through professional society meetings
- Collaborating with Skeletal Dysplasia brand team and other functions (MSLs, Market Access, Compliance) as needed
- Becoming an expert in clinical data and communicating its significance to stakeholders
- Providing business insights to internal partners on clinical practices of assigned accounts
- Complying with training, policies, guidelines, and company policies; maintaining professionalism and accountability
- Managing ambiguity and remaining agile as organization needs evolve
Scope
- Must be able to work some evenings and weekends for educational events
- Ability to manage a multi-state territory with a diverse customer base
- Overnight travel required, ranging from 40% to 60% depending on geography
- Advanced virtual skills to balance travel with virtual meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
Preferred Experience
- At least 5 years of sales experience in biotech/rare disease involving specialty products that are technically challenging and first in class
- Experience with office-based selling in complex referral networks to prescribers in newly created markets
- Experience in field team models with clinical support and reimbursement hub models
- Pediatric Endocrinology and/or Pediatric Orthopedics strongly preferred
- Experience in new product launches, preferably with first in class products
- Experience in roles working directly with patients/families
- Experience with long sales cycles to establish a medical home
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required
Additional Requirements
- The Northwest territory includes WA, Oregon, Idaho and MT; Seattle-based is ideal
