Role Summary
Dynamic Supervisor to join the R&D Laboratory Services team within the Protein Biochemistry department. This role focuses on managing laboratory operations, optimizing processes, and driving strategic initiatives. The operations team is responsible for managing and optimizing all aspects of the lab environment, including lab management, process optimization, compliance and safety, resource and allocation, and coordination and communication. This position will be on-site 5 days/week at the Tarrytown, NY offices.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team supporting lab operations, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Responsible for professional development and performance review process for direct reports.
- Coordinate tasks and ensure the effective allocation of resources within the team.
- Develop and manage the laboratory’s operational budget. Monitor and control expenditures to ensure alignment with financial goals. Provide insights and recommendations for cost optimization and resource allocation.
- Oversee lab operations, including equipment maintenance, process optimization, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Manage inventory systems, including sample management and distribution workflows.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance activities and laboratory equipment calibrations.
- Support lab operations by receiving packages and entering product info into the Electronic Notebook (ELN).
- Manage sample shipment requests (internal, external, international) and maintain documentation.
- Assist with sample distribution workflows and manage distribution points.
- Participate in LIMS database development, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Possess strong technical skills to design, update, and manage shared document libraries and functional Excel worksheets.
- Ability to prioritize and manage concurrent tasks in a high-throughput laboratory to ensure smooth operation.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and speed.
- Be adaptable to learning and supporting additional activities that may arise to continuously support PB through future growth and expansion.
- Manage activities to ensure compliance with appropriate GxPs and other applicable regulations, as applicable.
Qualifications
- BS with 12-15+ years or MS with 10+ years direct experience in managing and coordinating Lab Operations in a scientific setting. Follow 21 CFR Part 58 GLP guidelines and SOPs.

- Technical proficiency to design, update, and manage document libraries and Excel worksheets.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (or equivalent) with extensive experience; Master’s degree also acceptable with substantial laboratory operations leadership experience.
