Position Summary
The Specimen Processing Clerk I supports the department with clerical and ancillary duties in creating and accessioning clinical cases for patient output. Learns applicable laboratory regulations (CLIA, CAP, NYS). Works under the Supervisor and follows standard laboratory procedures and policies.

Job Responsibilities
- Open packages and perform video receipt of incoming specimens for clinical processing.
- Create and manage patient cases (set up new cases, update existing cases, enter specimens, attach documents, perform QC checks for accuracy).
- Open/close specimen and case discrepancies to ensure timely, accurate processing.
- Work cross-functionally with Customer Support, Molecular - Liquid Profiling, Compliance, Reporting, Patient Billing, PAโ€™s, Pharma Research Operations, and Biorepository.
- File, track, retrieve, and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain diagnostic viability; ensure correct patient labeling; verify information in the laboratory information system.
- Record specimens in laboratory logs and enter appropriate information into the LIS.
- Perform QA/QC for cases, specimens, and documentation.
- Maintain supply inventory, including receiving, supply chain requests, and ordering to Purchasing.
- Assist with other related duties and special projects; accept other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general Internet use for business.
- Able to work Tuesdayโ€“Saturday, 2:00pmโ€“10:30pm.

Preferred Qualifications
- 1โ€“3 years of experience in general laboratory operations.

Required Training
- Job-specific, safety, and compliance training assigned based on job functions.

Other
- Periodic travel and some evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
