Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Rheumatology - Madison, WI. This role is field-based; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Geography includes Rochester, MN; Cedar Rapids, IA; La Crosse, WI.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc. to meet or exceed those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and execute post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections and concerns to gain action on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales manager to achieve alignment and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of industry experience required, with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills. Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach; provide innovative ideas to maximize opportunities and respond to changes.
  • Influences others and is seen as a credible, respected resource; builds collaborative partnerships and leads by example in changing and challenging environments.
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency verbally and in writing.
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to access facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing and eligible to obtain these credentials.
  • HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; candidate is responsible for satisfying all HCIR requirements.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Driving a personal auto or company car; valid driver’s license with ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and safe driving requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or related field preferred; or equivalent industry experience.

  • HCIR credentialing and related prerequisites to access facilities in the assigned territory (background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, licenses).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to meet safe driving requirements.
