Role Summary
Specialty Representative, Rheumatology operates in the field to execute brand strategy and tactics, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and build strong customer relationships to maximize short- and long-term sales performance. The role centers on patient outcomes and requires adherence to AbbVie's code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations. The geography covers Jersey City, Edison, and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
- Create a pre-call plan with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and drive action in calls.
- Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win–win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise, and share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field or relevant and equivalent industry experience. If no bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of industry experience with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science; high school diploma/GED required.
- Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills; ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach; provides innovative ideas to maximize business opportunities.
- Influences others and is a credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships and demonstrates positive behaviors under changing conditions.
- Documented leadership or increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
- Preferred: Proven sales success within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written).
- Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; responsible for meeting all requirements and associated liability.
- Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and ability to operate in a matrix environment.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; safe driving requirements; may involve driving personal or company vehicle.
