Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Psychiatry covers Panama City, FL and Dothan, AL. This field-based role requires you to live within a reasonable distance from the primary city and be hired at a level commensurate with experience. You will execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and build strong customer relationships with a patient-centered approach while complying with all applicable laws and AbbVie policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and build trusted relationships to achieve win-win agreements with customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease state, product, and sales intelligence; share insights with in-field team, brand team, and sales management.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers; identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
  • Driving a personal auto or company vehicle or a powered piece of material handling equipment.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience; if no bachelor’s degree, at least five years of relevant industry experience with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science required.
  • Preferred: Relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree; English language proficiency verbally and in writing (for non-English speaking countries); proven track record of sales success in respective therapeutic areas; commercial pharmaceutical experience (physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing).
  • Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Required: Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approaches; develops sales strategies from findings.
  • Required: Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment; credible, respected resource; collaborative with district colleagues and matrix teams.
  • Required: Documented leadership/support experience at district/region/organizational levels.
  • Preferred: English language proficiency; HCIR credentialing requirements as necessary to gain/maintain entry into facilities; ability to pass background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses as applicable; valid driver's license.

Additional Requirements

  • Essential: Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations within the assigned territory; be in good standing or eligible to obtain these credentials.
  • Essential: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
