Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Psychiatry - Eatontown, NJ. This field-based role focuses on executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance with the patient at the center. Location within reasonable distance to the primary city is required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed established goals.
  • Create pre-call plans and execute post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Handle objections and concerns effectively to drive calls to action and close on sales opportunities.
  • Aim to serve customer needs and expectations, build trusted relationships, and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, accounts, disease states, product, clinical and sales expertise; share insights with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align strategies.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers; identify and maintain disease state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.
  • Drive a personal or company vehicle and operate related equipment as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required.
  • At least five years of experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking; ability to operate in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to adapt selling approaches to customer style/behavior; develop sales strategies based on insights; contribute innovative ideas to opportunities.
  • Demonstrated leadership, credibility, and ability to coach peers; documented success in increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels.
  • Preferred: proven sales success in the relevant therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written).
  • Must satisfy health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred; relevant industry experience considered.
