Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Psychiatry - Chesapeake, VA. Field-based role requiring residence within reasonable distance of the primary city; compensation and level will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and build trusted relationships to achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve set call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Gain and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, accounts, disease states, products, clinical and sales insights with in-field team, brand team, and sales management.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and develop disease-state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Equivalent experience: at least five years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking.
  • Adapts selling approach to customer style/behavior; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; able to operate in a matrix environment; proactive with innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Influences others; credible and respected among peers; builds partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
  • Leads by example; demonstrates positive behaviors and peer coaching; prior leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
  • Ability to travel adequately to cover territory, including overnight training events and sales meetings.
  • Driving a personal or company vehicle; ability to operate related equipment as needed.
  • Preferred: proven track record in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency in non-English-speaking countries.
  • Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.

Education

  • Travel up to territory coverage with occasional overnight trainings and meetings.
