Role Summary
Specialty Representative, Psychiatry - Charlotte East, NC. Field-based role; candidate should reside within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Role involves executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and building strong customer relationships to maximize short- and long-term sales performance with patient-centric focus.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
- Create pre-call plans and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and guide calls to action to close sales.
- Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute a call plan optimizing coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Gather and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, and disease/product knowledge with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
- Drive use of personal or company vehicle as part of daily responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required.
- Equivalent industry experience in lieu of a degree: at least five years total, with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma or GED required.
- In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
- Ability to identify customer styles/behaviors and adapt selling approaches; develop sales strategies based on insights.
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment; credible and respected role model; strong collaboration with district and matrix teams.
- Leads by example; proven leadership and ability to take on increased responsibility at district/region levels.
- Preferred: Track record of sales success in relevant therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing.
- English proficiency (verbal and written) for non-English-speaking country contexts.
- Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain access to facilities in the assigned territory; may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; responsible for ensuring HCIR compliance.
- Valid driver's license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
