Role Summary

The Specialty Representative, Psychiatry role is field-based and requires residence within a reasonable distance of the primary city. You will execute brand strategy and tactics in the field to drive sales performance, manage your territory and targeted accounts, and build strong customer relationships focused on patient-centered outcomes while adhering to AbbVie’s code of conduct and applicable laws. The role involves achieving sales KPIs, developing and executing call plans, and differentiating AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; address objections and drive calls to action to close on sales opportunities.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win outcomes for AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan with metrics to optimize coverage and frequency for key customers, maximizing access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory dynamics, competitors, market segments, and disease/product knowledge; share insights with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
  • Drive personal or company vehicle use and operate required equipment as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five (5) years total experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic/critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approaches; develops sales strategies based on findings
  • Delivers impact with ideas for the organization; operates effectively in a matrix environment
  • Influences others and is considered a credible, respected resource; builds partnerships with district and matrix teams
  • Leads by example; demonstrates positive behaviors and coaching across changing environments; track record of increased responsibility at district/region levels
  • Preferred: Proven sales performance track record in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
  • English language proficiency (verbal and written) for non-English speaking countries
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain access to facilities within the assigned territory
  • HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; you are responsible for meeting these requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
  • High school diploma/GED required if pursuing equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree

Additional Requirements

  • HCIR credentialing requirements must be satisfied to gain and maintain access to facilities in the assigned territory
