Role Summary
Specialty Representative, Psychiatry - Baltimore, MD. Field-based role responsible for executing brand strategy and tactics in the assigned territory, managing accounts, building customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales performance with patient-centered focus.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
- Create pre-call plans and post-call evaluations; handle objections and close on sales calls.
- Build trusted customer relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan to optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Gain and share market intelligence on customer needs, market landscape, competitors, and disease states with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and develop disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize performance.
- Drive personal or company vehicle use as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience; high school diploma/GED required with relevant experience.
- At least five years of relevant industry experience if no bachelor’s degree, with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science preferred.
- Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
- Ability to adapt selling approaches to customer style/behavior; develops sales strategies from findings.
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment; credible, collaborative, and leadership-oriented.
- Preferred: Proven sales track record in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing.
- English proficiency (verbal and written) for non-English speaking regions.
- Must satisfy health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.

Education
