Purpose
This role is field-based. Candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city.
Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field; manage assigned territory and targeted accounts; build customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance, placing the patient at the center and operating within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives.
- Create pre-call plans and execute post-call evaluations; handle objections/concerns and secure appropriate calls to action to close each sales call.
- Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute call plans to meet call metrics and optimize coverage/frequency to key customers.
- Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, accounts, disease, and product/clinical/sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team/brand team/sales manager to refine brand strategy.
- Differentiate value proposition with assigned health providers; identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health/sciences/pharmacy/business preferred; or equivalent industry experience.
- If no bachelor’s: at least 5 years’ experience (3+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science preferred) and high school diploma/GED.
- Leadership track record and solid presentation skills; strong business acumen and use of business tools; strategic/critical thinking.
- Ability to adapt selling approach to customer behavior; effective in a matrix environment.
- Preferred: sales success in therapeutic areas; physician/account-based selling, training, managed healthcare, or marketing experience.
- Preferred: in-depth scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge; recognized expert resource.
- Preferred: English proficiency verbally and in writing (for non-English speaking countries).
- Satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to enter facilities; may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
