Role Summary
This field-based role requires remote field activity within a reasonable distance of the primary city. You will execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance, while operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed defined goals.
- Create pre-call plan objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and concerns to consistently secure calls to action and close on sales calls.
- Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, accounts, disease states, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field teams and brand/sales leadership to align and optimize strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify/develop disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field or equivalent industry experience; or five+ years of relevant experience with three+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry if no bachelor’s degree; high school diploma/GED required.
- Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; proficient use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking abilities.
- Required: Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approaches; develop sales strategies; provide innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
- Required: Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment and influence others; credible resource to peers; ability to build collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
- Required: Leadership qualities; positive behavior and coaching abilities; proven track record of increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels.
- Preferred: Proven sales success in the relevant therapeutic area; pharmaceutical experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written).
- Required: Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain/maintain access to facilities and organizations in the territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- Required: Ability to satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements, including background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and any licenses required by state/city; you are responsible for meeting these requirements.
