Role Summary
Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Newark, NJ. Field-based role covering Newark, Bergen County, and surrounding areas. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
- Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales; handle objections and close on sales calls.
- Proactively serve customer needs and build trusted relationships to achieve win–win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan to achieve metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise; share intelligence with in-field and brand teams to optimize strategy and execution.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
- 5+ years of experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with 3+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
- In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; ability to operate in a matrix environment
- Proven track record of selling success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approach to customer style
- Influences others and is seen as a credible resource; builds collaborative partnerships across district and matrix teams
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to assume increased responsibilities; uses findings to develop sales strategies
- Preferred: sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency
- Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities; maintain good standing or be eligible to obtain credentials
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; willingness to drive personal or company vehicle
