Role Summary
Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Los Angeles, CA. Field-based role supporting AbbVie’s Gastroenterology portfolio; responsible for executing brand strategy, achieving sales targets, and building strong customer relationships within the assigned territory.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
- Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
- Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute call plans to maximize access and sales opportunities with key customers; optimize coverage and frequency.
- Stay informed on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, and product/clinical knowledge; share insights with in-field and brand teams to align strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and develop disease-state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
- Proven track record in selling with strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer styles and provide innovative solutions.
- Ability to influence others and act as a credible, respected resource; experience leading in matrix environments and collaborating with district and regional teams.
- Documented leadership or increased responsibility at district/region levels; ability to translate findings into sales strategies.
- Preferred: prior sales success in therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care or marketing; English proficiency.
- Must meet HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities; ability to pass background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses as required.
- Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and ability to operate in a matrix environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; ability to drive a personal or company vehicle.

Education
