Role Summary

This field-based Specialty Representative for Gastroenterology will cover Buffalo, NY and surrounding areas. You will execute brand strategy and tactics, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and build strong customer relationships to maximize short- and long-term sales performance with the patient at the center of all efforts. You will operate within AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and drive calls to action to close sales where appropriate.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, product, clinical and sales knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify/develop disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Five (5) years of experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree is required, with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills; ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approaches; provides innovative ideas to maximize opportunities
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible, respected role model; leads by example and mentors peers
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing (for non-English speaking countries)
  • Essential: satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; ensure satisfaction of all requirements and related liability
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and ability to operate in a matrix environment
