Role Summary

Field-based Dermatology Specialty Representative serving the Trenton, NJ area and surrounding locations. The role is responsible for executing brand strategy and field tactics, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales, while operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct and all applicable laws. Travel within the territory is expected as part of field-based responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed declared goals.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute call plans that achieve set call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory dynamics, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, products, clinical and sales knowledge, and share insights with in-field and brand teams to align and adapt brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five years of relevant industry experience, with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource; strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking; effective in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Proven track record in selling with strong presentation skills; identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach; drives impact and anticipates changes.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible, respected role model and resource; builds partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; leads by example and coaches peers through change.
  • Documented leadership and expanding responsibility at district, regional, or organizational levels; uses insights to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: proven sales success in the respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English language proficiency in writing and speaking.
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain these credentials.
  • HCIR credentialing requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses. Responsibility to satisfy all HCIR requirements rests with the employee; AbbVie provides resources as needed.
