Role Summary
Field-based specialty sales representative covering Newburgh, White Plains, Suffern, North Poughkeepsie, and surrounding areas. Responsible for executing brand strategy in the field, achieving sales targets, and effectively managing the assigned territory and accounts. Build strong customer relationships, address customer needs, and ensure compliant execution of AbbVie policies and applicable laws. The role is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed stated objectives.
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to improve performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
- Proactively identify and address customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements with customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan to meet call metrics, optimize coverage and frequency for key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease states, product and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition to health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Required: Relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree; at least five years of experience, with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
- Required: In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders; strong business acumen and proficient with business tools; strategic and critical thinking; able to operate effectively in a matrix environment.
- Required: Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills; proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach; anticipates and responds to changes.
- Required: Influences others; credible and respected role model; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team; leads by example and coaches peers.
- Required: Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
- Preferred: Proven track record of success in sales within respective therapeutic areas; experience in commercial pharmaceutical activities such as physician/account based selling, training, managed health care or marketing.
- Preferred: English language proficiency verbally and in writing.
- Required: Satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- Required: HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and licenses; candidate is responsible for satisfying these requirements.
Education
- Required: High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field; or relevant equivalent industry experience.
