Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Dermatology based in Manassas, VA, covering Leesburg and surrounding areas. Field-based role responsible for executing brand strategy and tactics, driving sales performance, effectively managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and building strong customer relationships to place the patient at the center of AbbVie’s efforts, in compliance with all laws and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements with AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease states, product and clinical and sales knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales management to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field; or equivalent industry experience.
  • Required: Relevant and equivalent industry experience; at least five years total, with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required if no degree.
  • Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Required: Proven track record of selling success; strong presentation skills; ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach; contributes ideas to the organization and adapts to changes.
  • Required: Influences others; credible and respected; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; leads by example and coaches peers through change.
  • Required: Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: Proven track record of sales performance within respective therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed care or marketing.
  • Preferred: English language proficiency verbally and in writing for non-English-speaking contexts.
  • Required: Satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Required: HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting and state or city licenses; you are responsible for satisfying all HCIR requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field; or equivalent industry experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory to meet with healthcare providers as required.
