Role Summary

Field-based specialty sales role focusing on dermatology within the Long Beach, CA area (covering Long Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Santa Ana, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, and surrounding areas). You will execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and address customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales while operating within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; effectively handle objections and complete calls with clear actions to close.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win–win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments and dynamics, accounts, disease states, product and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: At least five years of relevant industry experience, including at least three years in the pharmaceutical/health/science sector; in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a high school diploma/GED is required.
  • Required: If a bachelor’s degree is held, in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field is preferred or equivalent industry experience is acceptable.
  • Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product and competitive knowledge and is recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders. Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; possesses strategic and critical thinking capabilities; operates effectively in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Required: Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills; proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach; provides impact with ideas for the larger organization and anticipates and responds to changes.
  • Required: Influences others and is viewed as a credible and respected role model; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team; leads by example and coaches peers through changing environments.
  • Required: Documented leadership and experience taking on increased responsibility at district, regional and/or organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: Proven sales performance within the respective therapeutic area; experience in commercial pharmaceutical activities such as physician/account based selling, training, managed health care or marketing is a plus; English language proficiency in speaking and writing.
  • Required: HCIR credentialing to gain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; you must be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain these credentials.
  • Required: HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting and specific licenses required by state or city; you are responsible for meeting all HCIR credentialing requirements.

Additional Requirements

  • Field-based role requiring travel within the assigned geography to cover accounts as needed.
