Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Dermatology – Hempstead, NY. This field-based role covers Hempstead, Glen Cove, Long Beach, East Meadow, Hicksville, Great Neck, Port Washington and surrounding areas. The position will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc., in order to meet or exceed those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plan using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; effectively handle objections and concerns and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors and market dynamics, and share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and develop/maintain disease-state experts and speakers to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: At least five years of industry experience, including three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science sector; high school diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; proficient use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking; ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment; and to propose innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Required: Proven track record of selling and strong presentation skills; ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach; provides impactful ideas and adapts to changes.
  • Required: Influences others and is viewed as a credible, respected resource; builds collaborative partnerships across district and matrix teams; leads by example and coaches peers through change.
  • Required: Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: Proven track record of sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing.
  • Preferred: English language proficiency verbally and in writing.
  • Required: Satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain access to facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Required: HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting and licenses; you are responsible for meeting all requirements; AbbVie will assist with questions.
