Role Summary
The Acute Care Pharmaceutical Specialist (Specialty Representative, ACP) targets, promotes and sells a portfolio of prescription proprietary products with primary call points of pediatric and adult endocrinologists, pediatricians and hospital pharmacy/administration. The ACP Specialist will manage their territory to maintain existing physician, nurse, pharmacy and assigned office- and hospital-based contacts.
Responsibilities
- Responsible to develop relationships with current and revised/updated clinical call points as warranted achieving identified franchise objectives.
- Provide clinical positioning of product portfolio, consultative product service and support, coordinate and integrate product support logistics, as well as other internal personnel and resources to address expressed customer needs.
- Establish strong business relationships with targeted customer base.
- Keep abreast of market trends and competitive products/activities as it relates to the Acute Care Market; Pediatric and Adult Endocrine offices/clinics and Managed Care entities; share knowledge with Area/internal management and other ACP Specialists.
- Identify opportunities for business expansion.
- Detail key promotional products as determined by Division; tailor information presented to respond to key customer needs and objections.
- Execute promotional activities and trial placements for target products.
- Provide education/in-service events for clinical staff for key promotional products as determined by Division.
- Become and remain a technical expert on AbbVie and comparable competitive products; keep technical knowledge current via certification or self-study programs.
Qualifications
This role is field-based and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.
- Required: BS/BA Degree. Preferred Education Business Marketing, Science or other Technical disciplines (nursing or pharmacy).
- Required: Minimum of three to five years of successful field sales experience; pharmaceutical or medical sales.
- Required: Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales goals.
- Preferred: Prior medical, biomedical, pharmacy or nursing experience requiring demonstrated application of therapeutic classes to the treatment of high acuity disease states.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience presenting complex financial information and executing contracts.
- Preferred: Endocrinology sales experience as primary, with secondary hospital-based specialty sales experience highly preferred.
- Preferred: Previous and proven sales success; award winners preferred.
Education
