About the Role:
The Dermatology sales force drives demand through education following potential regulatory approval. Responsibilities include educating healthcare providers (HCPs) and optimizing business opportunities in targeted physician offices, key clinics, and hospital accounts in Dermatology. The Specialty Business Manager (SBM) develops and applies business processes that benefit patients and achieve sales goals.
How you will contribute:
- Support account on-boarding through education.
- Conduct clinical selling; deliver the clinical value proposition and advance customers across a brand educational continuum.
- Support initial clinical and patient access education for medical staff.
- Coordinate clinical education opportunities for HCPs (e.g., peer-to-peer).
- Manage accounts in Dermatology practices/clinics, outlets, and independent physician offices.
- Achieve territory sales goals and metrics by executing franchise/company brand strategy and tactics within the customer segment.
- Build professional relationships with HCP decision makers and stakeholders to support safe/effective product use.
- Deliver targeted sales messages using accurate clinical information and approved materials; discuss therapeutic strategies.
- Execute local marketing strategies; build customer engagement by identifying/cultivating relationships and educating decision makers.
- Present complex clinical/business information to Dermatologists and other decision-making groups.
- Develop and implement medical education and sponsor programs; stay current on disease states/treatments.
- Strategically manage allocated resources (e.g., budgets, managed markets, medical affairs).
- Follow compliance policies/guidelines and complete required training.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelorβs degree (BA/BS)
- 3+ years successful selling experience in pharma/biotech/medical device and/or relevant clinical/industry experience; OR 2+ years selling experience at Takeda
- Dermatology/Dermatologist calling experience highly preferred
- Strategic planning/business skills; adaptability
- Understanding of managed care landscape
- Strong verbal, influencing, presentation, and written communication skills
- Strong collaboration and team success
- Reside within or close proximity to assigned geography
Preferred:
- 5+ years direct selling experience to HCPs
- Experience calling on Dermatologists
- Experience with managing/communicating complex reimbursement issues
Travel Requirements:
- Ability to drive/fly to accounts; occasional business meetings
- Overnight travel up to 25β50% (as required)
Training Requirements:
- Employment contingent on passing mandatory product training (written and oral exams).
- During training (external hires): classified as non-exempt; eligible for overtime only during training period; not eligible for sales incentives/production-based bonuses.
- Training includes live instruction, independent study, role play (up to 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week).
- After passing exams: transition to exempt status; paid bi-weekly; eligible for sales incentive programs/contests.
