About the Role
Specialty Business Manager (SBM) drives demand for an assigned dermatology product through education—educating healthcare providers (HCPs), optimizing opportunities in targeted physician offices/clinics/hospital accounts, and achieving sales goals via strong business processes.
Responsibilities
- Support account onboarding through education.
- Conduct clinical selling: deliver clinical value, advance customers across a brand educational continuum.
- Provide initial clinical and patient access education for medical staff; coordinate peer-to-peer and other HCP education.
- Manage accounts in dermatology practices/clinics/outlets and independent physician offices.
- Meet sales goals and key territory metrics by executing brand/franchise strategy within customer segments.
- Build relationships with HCP decision-makers and stakeholders to support safe/effective product use.
- Develop and deliver targeted sales messages using approved materials and medical reprints; discuss therapeutic strategies.
- Execute local marketing strategies and build customer engagement.
- Present complex clinical/business information to dermatologists and other decision-makers.
- Develop and implement medical education and sponsor programs; stay current on disease/treatment changes.
- Strategically manage allocated resources (budgets, managed markets, medical affairs, etc.).
- Uphold patient-first values and adhere to compliance policies/training.
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS
- 3+ years successful pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device selling (or relevant clinical/industry experience) OR 2+ years selling at Takeda
- Dermatology calling experience highly preferred
- Strategic planning; managed care understanding
- Strong communication and collaboration
- Live within or close to assigned geography
Preferred
- 5+ years direct healthcare professional selling
- Calling on dermatologists; complex reimbursement experience
Training Requirements
- Must pass mandatory product training (written/oral exams). Training is up to 8 hrs/day, 40 hrs/week; non-exempt during training.
- After passing, transitioned to exempt status.
Licenses/Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License
Travel
- Drive/fly as needed; overnight travel up to 25–50%
Compensation/Benefits (Annapolis, MD)
- US hourly wage range: $63.51–$87.31
