Specialist Scientific IS Business Analyst

What You Will Do
- Work with Amgen Research partners and Technology peers to translate technology/data needs for drug discovery research into technical requirements for solution implementation.
- Leverage scientific domain and business process expertise to detail product requirements as epics and user stories, including business process maps, use cases, and test plans for software development teams.
- Join a cross-functional team that enables technology and data capabilities to evaluate drug candidates and assess effects on drug target biology, including software/infrastructure for pre-clinical and clinical omics data (genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, etc.).
- Collaborate with In Vivo (biological studies) to support lead optimization studies.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and developers; implement and manage scientific software platforms across the research informatics ecosystem, providing technical support, training, and infrastructure management.
- Understand business needs for AI-enabled solutions and facilitate building data connectors to various data sources.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Function as a Scientific Business Systems Analyst within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) product team.
- Liaison between global Research Informatics functional areas and global research scientists; prioritize needs and expectations.
- Manage custom internal platforms, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software, and systems integrations.
- Translate complex scientific/technological needs into clear, actionable requirements for development teams.
- Stay updated on omics techniques and imaging advances (e.g., radiomics, cell painting, high-content imaging) including data generation, processing, and analysis.
- Develop and maintain a product roadmap (features/enhancements, timelines, milestones).
- Identify and manage system risks (technological risks, scientific validation, user acceptance).
- Develop documentation, communication plans, and training plans for end users.
- Scope scientific data operations into building research-wide AI and Machine Learning capabilities.
- Ensure operational excellence, cybersecurity, and compliance.
- Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams (including North America and international locations).
- Foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications
- Doctorate degree
OR
- Master’s degree and 2 years in Life Sciences, Computer Science, IT, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, or related field
OR
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 years in Life Sciences, Computer Science, IT, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, or related field
OR
- Associate’s degree and 8 years in Life Sciences, Computer Science, IT, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, or related field
OR
- High school diploma/GED and 10 years in Life Sciences, Computer Science, IT, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, or related field

Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years implementing and supporting biopharma scientific software platforms; understanding of research in vivo studies and data analytics.

Must-Have Skills
- Omics data management and analysis (genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, etc.) with understanding of disease biology.
- Bioinformatics tools and research workflows for managing omics data.
- In vivo research workflows; study data, experimental metadata, and analytics.
- Familiarity with research imaging modalities, techniques, and analytics.
- Database technology knowledge (e.g., RDBMS, Databricks).

Good-to-Have Skills
- Writing user requirements and acceptance criteria in agile systems such as JIRA.
- Handling GxP data and system validation (GCP).
- AI and machine learning for drug discovery and preclinical development.
- Exposure to radiomics or high-content imaging.
- Familiarity with AI/ML-based imaging analysis pipelines.
- In-depth knowledge of Agile processes and SAFe.
- Experience managing vendors and licenses for a product team.
- Business analysis best practices; DevOps; Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
- Experience with Benchling or other LIMS.
- Understanding of cloud technologies, pipelines, and data storage.

Professional Certification
- SAFe for Teams certification (preferred).
