Role Summary
The Specialist, Global Trade Compliance Officer supports the development and implementation of global trade compliance policies, procedures, and related training within our Company Animal Health. The role interfaces with internal customers, external vendors, and service providers, and assists with audits of import and export operations globally.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain divisional policies, guidelines, and standards that support compliant and efficient trade compliance systems.
- Provide guidance and oversight to sites and other local operations to align local SOPs with corporate and divisional policies.
- Drive the implementation of GTC Global Standards, collaborating with the GTC COE and GTM when necessary.
- Develop and update trade compliance training materials related to the GTC Global Standards and requirements, and support training for involved employees.
- Act as the liaison between Corporate Global Trade Compliance and the Animal Health business.
- Support due diligence and implementation of proposed Business Development projects (M&A, Divestitures, Joint Ventures).
- Interpret regulatory trade requirements into consistent and effective trade processes, systems, and tools.
- Conduct detailed trade compliance audits of global export and import operations and generate audit reports.
- Assist local sites in developing robust CAPA plans with realistic implementation timelines.
- Review and approve evidence of CAPA completion to ensure compliance with policy and local regulations.
- Support Global Logistics and others in continuously improving trade compliance risk levels.
Education
- High school diploma required.
- Bachelorβs degree preferred.
Qualifications
- Brokers License or advanced degree preferred.
- Ability to travel internationally up to 15% of the time.
- Minimum 4 to 6 years of functional expertise in international trade or equivalent.
- Conceptual and practical expertise in Global Trade Compliance and Global Trade Operations; working knowledge of import/export and country-specific trade regulations.
- Excellent writing and communication skills; ability to explain complex technical regulations and assist in policy development.
- Audit experience and skills desired.
- Strong project management experience and ability to drive CAPA and continuous improvement.
- Prior experience interfacing with international companies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Experience or ability to work with global trade management systems like ACE, SAP GTS.
