Responsibilities:
- Provide technical thought leadership and contribute to the business vision; make key design decisions and influence technology investments and product roadmaps.
- Participate in discovery and pre-discovery to help set product teams up for success.
- Partner with Product Managers, Product Designers, and Principal Engineers to enable holistic product direction via enterprise technology investments.
- Ensure technology solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, standards, and reference architectures.
- Contribute to technical strategy/roadmaps for product groups; ensure the technology ecosystem supports product needs.
- Own key architecture assets (e.g., city map and reference architecture) to guide investments, including technical debt reduction.
- Design implementation paths for custom and Line of Business apps (SaaS and COTS) for commodity/highly industrialized processes.
- Partner to move architectural designs to a โready to buildโ state.
- Apply external technology trends (e.g., AI, cloud-native) to business problems to shape future technology strategies.
- Support pre-discovery activities to inform hiring of key technical roles.
- Support integration of custom and SaaS applications (build vs. buy) and drive a composable solution landscape.
- Support product discussions by articulating how technology visions/roadmaps support business outcomes.
- Build relationships with business stakeholders to influence changes and technology investments.
- Partner with service integrators (vendors) and internal engineers to ensure competency and architecture alignment.
- Rationalize/combine cross-functional technologies for efficiency and reuse.
- Support solution architecture review groups to meet enterprise requirements.
- Identify and contribute to architecture standards/patterns for product teams.
- Identify and rationalize technical debt to support portfolio health initiatives.
- Enable discovery capability to validate business and technology direction.
Minimum qualifications / required skills:
- DevSecOps culture and modern software development practices (CI/CD, TDD, etc.).
- B.S. in Information Systems/Computer Science.
- 5+ years architecting and delivering enterprise IT systems.
- Experience leading large technology selection processes.
- Strong hands-on IT engineering background and breadth of architecture experience.
- Data architecture principles.
- Experience with: modern application architecture methodologies (SOA, API-centric design, Twelve-Factor App, FAIR, etc.); cloud-native design patterns (Microsoft Azure / Google Cloud preferred).
- Experience implementing interfaces between SaaS providers (integration-as-a-service frameworks).
- Experience supporting digital platforms (integrations, release management, regression testing, data obfuscation, etc.).
- Experience scaling an API ecosystem and implementing API-first integration patterns.
- Strong organizational and communications skills; ability to convey complex technical topics and influence direction.
- Leadership and proactive communication; bias for action.
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with infrastructure considerations (networking, hosting, security, etc.) for on-prem and cloud solutions.
- Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., life sciences).
- Solution architecture certifications for Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience in a product operating model delivering architecture capability across product.
