Purpose:
The Analytical Instrument Service Engineer installs, maintains, and repairs advanced analytical lab instruments (HPLC, GC, and mass spectrometry). Performs continuous learning to support evolving laboratory equipment. Manages service and customer relationships by diagnosing issues, performing preventive maintenance, and qualifying chromatography systems.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, calibrate, and repair analytical instrumentation (HPLC, GC, mass spectrometry).
- Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance to resolve performance issues.
- Coordinate with internal groups and external suppliers to expedite service and repairs.
- Advise customers on preventive maintenance and system configurations.
- Review technical documentation and reports; recommend corrective actions.
- Use CMMS to track requests and document activities.
- Train peer technicians on equipment use, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain compliance with company policies (quality, health and safety).
- Meet customer expectations; maintain relationships and provide follow-up plans.
Qualifications (Preferred/Required):
- Bachelorโs degree or higher in a science-related field highly preferred (equivalent education/training/experience considered).
- Associateโs degree or high school diploma/GED with 5+ years relevant experience may be acceptable.
- 3+ years hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation (e.g., LC/GC/HPLC/UPLC/SFC chromatography and mass spectrometry).
- Ability to learn new technologies; effective communication; integrity/quality commitment.
- Time management, prioritization, advanced troubleshooting, and clear documentation.
