Senior Therapy Access Manager
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute institutional and field access strategy for assigned geography.
- Educate clinic/institution stakeholders on reimbursement dynamics, patient support services, distribution model, and payer requirements.
- Partner with Sales Account Managers, Clinical Coordinators, and Patient Support Services Hub to enable HCP navigation of patient access needs; lead proactive touchpoints with internal partners.
- Conduct/monitor complex Benefits Investigations; educate on Prior Authorization (PA) processes; monitor PA and provide additional education as needed.
- Serve as liaison between the Patient Support Services Hub and HCP clinics; educate providers on patient support programs (e.g., coverage authorization guides, co-pay assistance programs).
- Provide live one-on-one education to HCPs and/or office staff on coverage requirements and payer authorization processes.
- Address complex access issues with compliance.
- Mentor junior team members; champion compliance and ethical standards.
- Analyze payer trends and institutional feedback; inform strategic adjustments and escalation pathways.
- Educate on payer issues, policies/guidelines, PA delays/denials, and appeal processes.
- Review escalated patient cases; identify coverage barriers and update payer policies based on market dynamics.
- Travel up to 50% and represent the team at national meetings as appropriate.
Experience and Education Requirements
- 7+ years in pharmaceutical/healthcare (preferably 5+ years in access/reimbursement).
- Bachelorβs degree.
- Track record supporting HCPs/office staff with access/reimbursement requiring payer support.
- Experience with both βbuy and billβ and Specialty Pharmacy distribution.
- Strong payer environment knowledge (government/commercial payers, AOB/LOA concepts, accumulators/maximizers, patient support programs).
- Solid knowledge of patient support programs (HUB, co-pay assistance, nurse educator support).
- Compliance knowledge (HIPAA, OIG, Advertising/Promotion, Anti-Kickback Statute, applicable policies).
Preferred Experience
- Salesforce.com.
- REMS product(s).
- Limited distribution products.
Minimum Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Strong analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail.
- Ability to travel overnight; schedule travel (and use own car if needed).
- Technical healthcare knowledge (billing/coding, appeals).
- Bilingual highly desirable; nursing experience a plus.
