Role Summary

The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist, Oncology – DC Metro District is a field-based role focused on driving demand and adoption of BMS oncology medicines through scientific engagement with Health Care Providers, building credibility with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians, and delivering a differentiated customer experience in accordance with label guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory to meet or exceed sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Creates demand by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for product use in appropriate patients.
  • Maintains and grows a high level of scientific expertise across assigned products and therapeutic areas.
  • Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Uses CE^3 and other tools to derive insights and inform call plans, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Delivers fair and balanced scientific dialogue with HCPs, conducting in-office presentations and organizing external speaker programs as needed.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of emerging data for approved indications.
  • Coordinates with Medical on Call for real-time medical support as needed.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure a high Customer Experience (Cx) and shares insights with internal stakeholders.
  • Complies with all laws, regulations, and policies governing BMS conduct.

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing.
  • Ability to communicate scientific/clinical data accurately to healthcare professionals.
  • Experience building credibility with key customers and delivering a differentiated Customer Experience (Cx).
  • Experience in Oncology required.
  • Strong account management, selling competencies, and a track record of meeting/exceeding goals.
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive team mindset.
  • Strong selling and promotional skills with a proven performance record.

Education

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to operate a company-provided vehicle; valid driver's license and meeting company driver requirements are required.
  • Field-based role requiring travel to meet with external customers.
